In the Footsteps of Lewis: CS Lewis Guided Coach Tour

CS LewisCelebrated Author CS Lewis, known all over the world as the creator of the Chronicles of Narnia, was born here in East Belfast and no visit to the city is complete without exploring the locations associated with his early childhood. It was due to the Belfast’s maritime history that the Lewis family came to be living in 19th Century Belfast and it was here that the images and experiences which appear in his work have their origins.

Why not spend some time exploring this fascinating story which is rooted in the locations, people and traditions of 20th century Belfast? There are few better ways to catch the atmosphere of an area than through its local writers.

Tour in the Footsteps of Lewis

During this Tour, you will follow in the footsteps of CS Lewis and discover where his family settled in 19th century Belfast, how his family came to be in East Belfast, stand at the place where he was born, see the house from where Narnia grew. You will see the icons which sowed the seeds of the idea which became Aslan and be introduced to the genesis of a number of his important books.

The Tour provides the opportunity to become familiar with those parts of East Belfast in which Lewis encountered formative experiences and the places of his childhood including Little Lea, Campbell College, St. Mark’s Church and you will also see the famous sculpture ‘The Searcher’.  Through this tour you will gain insights into Lewis’s writing and enhance your enjoyment of the books he has written and the film of his life and work.
